Electrical and Electronics Engineering was introduced in the year 2010 at our esteemed institution, St. Thomas College of Engineering & Technology(Kozhuvalloor, Chengannur) with a key objective and aim of providing both fundamentals and Industry/ Future ready programs in this field by nurturing the students to deep-dive in their fields of interest and also motivating them to excel. Today, the role of a department is not only to pursue academic excellence but also to motivate and empower its students to be lifelong learners, critical thinkers, and productive members of an ever-changing global society. In this direction, the department provides an excellent environment for its students and faculties to work with zeal and enthusiasm with an aim to give their best.
The department also provides facilities to carry out research in the emerging technology areas. The focus of the department is to imbibe the students with a potential through a broad exposure to all aspects that facilitates them for all round development. The department has a dedicated team of faculties with a wide spectrum of specialisation such as Power Electronics, Power Systems, Control systems and Electrical Machines. The course has a healthy blend of Power Engineering and Electronics Engineering. The course pattern is planned to keep the students up-to-date with recent trends by organising regular trainings, e-learning through MOOC, industrial visits, workshops, conferences, faculty development programs, etc.

Analyze, design and implement Electrical, Electronics and Computer based components and systems for applications including control systems and power systems.
Ability to implement electrical system design skills for planning, estimating and designing of utility requirements.
Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems. [PO1]
Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences. [PO2]
Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations. [PO3]

Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations. [PO5]
